What style of Martial Arts do you teach?

Dynamic Martial Arts is a combination of a few different martial arts with a heavy emphasis on cardiovascular and strength training. We believe that in order to fight well, our students must train physically, mentally, and spiritually. We push ourselves and our students to the edge all the time. We believe in practicing in an exhausted state, so we can be best prepared to fight.

The Instructors at Dynamic have trained in various martial arts over the years, and have come to the conclusion that there is no ultimate martial art. Martial Arts share the same roots, and no martial art is better than any other. Each art has it’s own specialties. We’ve taken what we think is the best from the arts we’ve studied and combined them together into our own system. Our primary focus at Dynamic Martial Arts is to teach the Bible and share the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. We use martial arts as a tool to support this primary mission.

Influence

Tae Kwon Do is the art that most influence our system. Traditional Tae Kwon Do as it is taught in USA includes forms or poomse’s with some specific self-defense added. TKD also focuses on jumping / flying kicks as the student progresses to black belt. Hapkido is also a Koren art, which includes falls, throws, grappling, and extreme self defense. Hapkido works to use the opponent’s own energy against him. Brazlian Jui Jitsui is grappling and ground based. It has become much more popular with the growth of the UFC.

Why do you spend so much time on cardio and strength training?

Kids do not get enough exercise today. We aim to change that, a few students at a time. We believe that to be a prepared fighter means you need to train in how to do techniques, but must also be physically strong enough and in good enough shape to survive a fight. In the first thirty seconds of a fight, adrenaline is the driver. After 30 seconds, conditioning kicks in. We want our students to be better conditioned, both as preparation for fighting and also for the benefits good conditioning provides to overall life.

I need to learn to fight, can you teach me?

At Dynamic we train so that we do not have to fight. Our hope and prayer is that none of our students will ever have to use the things we teach them in the real world. We believe that we must be prepared in case we ever find ourselves in trouble. We do not condone using martial arts as a weapon and will not tolerate any students who train with us in order to use their skills to hurt other people.

How often do you test your students?

We test for new belts once per semester. We do this because we only train once per week and  every other Saturday, and we want the students to be prepared and really know their stuff before they receive a new belt. We will not authorize a student to test until we are sure that they are ready. We will not push a student to test. This is one of the advantages of being a not-for-profit school, we are not forced to test people to make money.

What is the age limit for this class?

Our classes are designed for ages 7+.

How much do we charge?

We charge $40 per semester for our class. Mr. Romeo and family run Dynamic Martial Arts as a ministry, to proclaim the name of Jesus Christ. The $40 per student goes to cover a t-shirt for each student and belts. We DO NOT charge for belt tests. The only other items that you may wish to purchase is sparring gear, which costs around $50 per student (after reaching yellow belt). Mr. Romeo does not make any money from Dynamic and uses any additional money collected to purchase new equipment for the class.

What does a typical class look like?

Our classes run for two hours total time. We start class with a 20-30 minute cardio workout and stretch. For the next 30 minutes we focus on stances, strikes, and kicks, working with different pads and drills to improve these skills. At roughly the one hour mark, we take a break and open up God’s Word for a devotion (~20 minutes). Then we break into separate belt levels and focus on curriculum for the remaining time. We always finish class with one last exercise targeted to push our students right to the edge!

At Dynamic Martial Arts, Bible Study is a part of each time we gather. We believe that a properly trained warrior must be prepared physically, mentally, and spiritually. Each class time we break half way through and open up God’s Word for a time of devotion. One of the Instructors will teach a short lesson on a portion of Scripture followed by age specific small group discussion sessions led by our teenage Instructors.

You will work hard in our classes. We are a school that believes push ups are good for us. We train hard and give 100%, with the hope and prayer that we will not have to fight

At some point while training, you will want to give up. We will encourage you to push through, to achieve the goal you set out for yourself, and to stay with the fight. Giving up is too EASY!

We study God’s Word. We challenge each other with what it says. If you do not believe in God, we still invite you to come and train with us.
